Ms. Jennifer Kober
My name is Jennifer Kober, the 5th-8th grade Spanish Teacher. I’d like to introduce myself and give you an overview of the program. I joined the St. Joseph Staff in February 2003 after relocating back to the Bay Area from several years of living abroad. I spent many years in Barcelona, Spain as a language teacher working with both children and adults.
While abroad, I also studied at the University of Barcelona, earning a diploma in Hispanic Studies. I gained a deep appreciation for Hispanic culture. As a result, I like to incorporate topics such as music, geography, and cultural traditions into the curriculum. I feel very fortunate to have found a place at St. Joseph working in a subject in which I truly enjoy. Recently I have had the opportunity to travel to the Spanish-speaking countries of Argentina, Uruguay, Spain, and Mexico.
As a foreign language teacher, I feel it is essential to create interest and curiosity in the classroom. Therefore, I hope students not only enjoy the experience, but understand what it means to have the opportunity to acquire a second language and how it may benefit them in the future. We practice reading, writing, comprehension, and speaking through a variety of activities. Homework is assigned regularly as a review of what is practiced in class and is expected to be completed for the following class meeting.
Please feel free to email with any questions. I look forward to working with you!
